SIDNEY MARKET, MAY-AUGUST 2015

Sidney is a small seaside town about 30 minutes’ drive from Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.  Each Thursday evening from May to the end of August the town hosts a three-hour street-market on the main street.  

Stalls are limited to about 120 sites and the market is packed every week.  Victoria is a major cruise-ship terminal and Alaska-bound cruise passengers are bussed into the market from the city.

Icekap took a stall not so much to sell Icekaps but mainly to listen to what migraine sufferers and Icekap users had to tell us.  We sold plenty but we also learned a lot, for example:

•       There are many causes of severe headaches other than migraines – hangovers, concussions, trauma, etc.  Icekap seems to provide relief for most of them. 

•         None of the customers we met have been disappointed with their purchase.  All of them were delighted.

•         Some users wear Icekap 24/7 while at home, changing their ice-cold gel packs regularly.

•          Some keep a frozen Icekap at home and another at work.

•         Icekaps are sturdy and last well.  One local user who wears Icekaps 24/7 at home made her first one last two years.  Her second didn’t last quite as long so we replaced it. 

•         A number of people, while not being migraine sufferers themselves, have a sufferer in the family or amongst their friends.  Some people bought Icekaps at the market as gifts for them – none were returned!

•       Icekap has been used successfully for minimising hair-loss from chemotherapy.  We are told that cryotherapy (topical cold treatment) is commonly used for this purpose throughout Europe and in Australia.  But not in North America.  We wonder why. 

•      $60 CDN for Icekap (about $47 US) is considered a bargain.  Some have paid up to $400 for other treatments - that didn’t work.  One “competitive” cryotherapy treatment is available in Canada but it costs over $4,000.   

•        Buyers at the market appreciate not having to pay shipping costs of up to $20. 

•        Several people have told us that if they continue with meds Icekap makes them more effective, or that they can use smaller or less frequent doses.
